This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

  • performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor

This courses is delivered partially online in your own time and with a short face-to-face session. The online work needs to be complete prior to the practical session.

Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy

Nationally Recognised Unit Code and Title: HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy
This unit applies to persons who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation or oxygen therapy in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.
 
  • performing at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
 

Prerequisite 

Please note: From 1 July 2021 this course has a pre-requisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. This means that before you can attend this course you must attend and complete a Provide First Aid HLTAID011 course. (HLTAID003 is not accepted). This is due to a national training package update. If you have already completed Provide First Aid HLTAID011 you will need to supply your certificate at time of booking. If you have not completed this prerequisite course you will need to book and attend prior to completing  Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy HLTAID015.

Nationally Recognised Unit Code and Title: HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.

Environment

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid in an electricity supply industry (ESI) environment.

It includes the recognition and provision of an initial response where first aid is required and how it applies to ESI workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.
